Ways to Save While Traveling #savingwithmisty

Ways to Save While Traveling

If you’re like me and love to travel but are feeling the pinch of expenses, here are a few of my own tips and tricks to help you save money while on vacation.

~ If at all possible, drive to your destination.  I do realize if you are traveling across the country or out of the country, this is not feasible, however with the prices of airplane tickets skyrocketing, this will save so much money in the airplane fees, parking your car at the airport, etc.

~ When you are at your hotel, ask for extra toiletries, I promise you the hotel staff does not mind handing you a few extra. Even if you are there for one night, ask for two bottles of everything per person in the room, per night. Might seem small, but those little bottles add up, and most of them are high end products.

Top 7 Reasons to Add Antarctica To Your Bucket List

Top 7 Reasons to Add Antarctica To Your Bucket List

Antarctica is a sight like no other. To experience it in person is truly jaw-dropping, as no camera can do it justice. From its incredible landscapes to the remarkable wildlife, it’s one destination you will never forget. Here’s a list of the top 7 reasons to add Antarctica to your bucket list and head there as soon as possible.

The Beauty of Whale Watching

At least ten different species of whales have lived in the Antarctic Ocean. The Minke, Right, Blue, Sei, Finback, Orca, Pilot, Sperm, and Southern bottle-nosed whales are the next most prevalent whales, after which come Humpbacks.

These beautiful creatures are amazing to see. These whales may frequently be seen throughout the season, and their characteristic blowhole sound lets you know when they are around.

Exploring the Exquisite Komodo Islands in Flores on a Three-Day Trip

When you visit Flores in Indonesia, one of the activities you should not miss is sailing around the Komodo National Park islands. The vast National Park stretches out to 1,733 km squared and includes three well-known islands: Komodo, Rinca, Padar, and 26 other lesser-known and smaller islands.

The three main islands Komodo, Rinca, and Padar, are huge and seem quite close to each other on a map but are far from each other. A sailing trip is the perfect opportunity for tourists to sight-see and do some island-hopping, which takes at least three days.

Here is a rough itinerary for a typical three-day sailing trip to Komodo. Continue reading “Exploring the Exquisite Komodo Islands in Flores on a Three-Day Trip”

Four Things You Must Do While In Tennessee

Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA downtown skyline.

The United States is never short of things for you to do. No matter what state you’re in, there are countless things to occupy your time.

Should you find yourself in Tennessee anytime soon, these are some of the things you absolutely mustn’t miss out on.

Visit Graceland

Considering it’s home to places like Nashville and Memphis, it’s no wonder that Tennessee is so closely associated with music. It helps that there are attractions like Graceland – Elvis Presley’s former home – to really get that point across.

Whether you’re a big fan of the King or not, the rock’n’roll icon’s house is definitely worth seeing with your own eyes. Not only will it give you an insight into how the other half live, but it’ll also show you just how weird and wonderful his life was.

Stop Off At Dollywood

Another musical legend linked to Tennessee is Dolly Parton, and she too has her own landmark attraction that’s worth a visit. Continue reading “Four Things You Must Do While In Tennessee”

Losing Our Grant….

Just so y’all know, this post is a little different than my traditional posts, and a little lengthy.  It has taken me a few days to get my words together but let me ramble for a second.  Sorry if this makes no sense, as it’s a little hard for me to write something when you I am at a loss for words….

In this journey called life, there are only a handful of people you have the pleasure of meeting on this earth. Some idols you meet come and go in your life with no trace left in your heart or them giving you a second thought. Some you straight up you regret meeting. Some you regret not meeting them sooner in your journey.

Then, there are people like Grant. People you are blessed with the opportunity of not only meeting but becoming friends with. Those idols that turn into friends. Icons that are humble and never forget their roots.

How To Get Your Car Road Trip Ready

Taking a road trip can be fun and spontaneous, but there are always a few things that should be done before embarking on any extra-long journeys. Here are some of my tips on how to get your car or truck road trip ready.

Check Your Vehicle for any Problems

There are several problems that can happen when you are out on the road, but if you take some of these steps, hopefully, you won’t run into any!

Before we leave on any trip, my husband checks all of the fluids in the car. He checks the Oil, Transmission Fluid, Power steering Fluid, Brake Fluid, and of course the Windshield Solvent.

Other things you can do are:
– Fill the Gas Tank
– Air up your Spare Tire
– Check to see if your lights are all working correctly
– Look at your wiper blades, and make sure they are in good shape. The last thing you want is to get stuck in a rainstorm with bad wiper blades. Continue reading “How To Get Your Car Road Trip Ready”

Road Trip to Waynesboro GA

I think almost everyone loves to road trip; I know my husband and I do! We have traveled across many states, but we have yet to visit Georgia. Waynesboro Georgia offers many unique cultural experiences and affordable lodging. Put a pin on the map- we’re off on a road trip!

Things to Do Near Waynesboro

I always like to plan out a few different activities whenever we decide to road trip. What’s the point of seeing the country if you don’t stop and experience it?

Augusta Canal National Heritage Area:

The August Canal National Heritage Area offers so many different fun events throughout the year, and they also have a Discovery Center, which sounds just as fun as it is educational.

The Augusta Canal Discovery Center at Enterprise Mill tells the story of industrial revolution in the American South and how a city used its waterways to reinvent itself and define its destiny. Located in a former textile mill, the Discovery Center is your starting point of all canal boat tours. Be sure to allow time before or after your cruise to explore the exhibits, view the orientation film in the Rotary Club of Augusta Centennial Theater, and browse the Canal Gift Shop. Discovery Center admission is $6 adult/ $4 senior & student, or free with your boat tour ticket purchase.
