Chocolate Girl was founded by Shelley Meche’tte and her daughters. They are dedicated to going above and beyond the typical beauty services to ensure all of their customers are satisfied and their line of lip glosses have been created to provide suitable lip colors for melanin women who are often failed by the beauty industry even in 2021.
I have refused to support and purchase multiple large cosmetics brands due to their treatment of women of color and I always do extensive research on brands before purchasing from them so I knew Chocolate Girl was exactly the type of company I want to support.
Shelley was kind enough to send me a few of their glosses to check out.
I INSTANTLY fell in love with Purple Reign. This soft purple is STUNNING and I can never pass up a stunning bold color like that. The picture above does not do Champagne justice, it’s a stunning light pink color which is perfect for if you want to tone down a look. I tend to love bold but I will never pass up having something subtle and traditional in my collection. Clear Ice brings me INSTANTLY back to high school when I exclusively wore clear lip gloss only and it was a very nice trip down memory lane. It’s also perfect for when you want your lips to be moisturized with a clear finish.
I am very happy with Chocolate Girl, all of their glosses contain Vitamin E and Coconut Oil. I tend to have very dry lips living in New England so Vitamin E and Coconut Oil help keep my lips moisturized and looking their best. I truly am obsessed with their shade Purple Reign.
Their glosses range in price from $5-$6 which I think is a steal and be sure to follow them on Instagram to keep up to date on new releases.
