Easy Classic Meatloaf

Ingredients
– 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80% lean)
– 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 large eggs, beaten
– ½ cup ketchup
– 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1 teaspoon salt
– ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten eggs, and half of the ketchup.

3. Add the Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Mix everything together until well combined. It’s best to use your hands for this step to ensure even distribution of the ingredients.

4. Transfer the meat mixture into the greased loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.

5. Spread the remaining ketchup over the top of the meatloaf, using a spatula or the back of a spoon.

6. Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C). You can use a meat thermometer to check the temperature.

7. Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Optional Additions
– You can add diced bell peppers, grated carrots, or shredded cheese to the meat mixture for additional flavors and textures.

– For a tangy twist, mix a tablespoon of Dijon mustard into the ketchup before spreading it on top of the meatloaf.
