Get Your Exterior Ready For The Summer
It may be taking its time, but summer is definitely around the corner. It can often feel like a long slog to wait for summer every year, but while you’re waiting you need to keep yourself busy. Getting the interior of your house ready for the summer is one thing, but what about the exterior? Are you able to spend a little more time outside this year?
To make the time that you spend outside worth something, you want to be able to enjoy your environment. Whether you have a garden full of grass or you have a half grass/half patio garden, you should be able to sit there and breathe in the summer air. That means preparing now, with roof cleaning, gutter cleaning, power washing the patio, and even mowing the lawns. If you don’t do these things, you will end up with a house that looks unkempt, which means you’re not really going to want to spend much time outside this summer, are you? Here is how you can get the outside of your home ready for the summer months.
The first step to take is to do an evaluation around your house. Look at the roof, look at the siding, look at the tiles – all of these things need a keen eye to brush over it. Check for any peeling paint or cracks, fill them, sand them down, and repaint them. You may decide to go all in, and repeat the entire house ready for the season. It’s a big job, but if it’s what you want to do, then that’s what you should do. The cold temperatures can cause the house to expand due to the heat within it and then peel and crack, and when you’re sitting outside you don’t really want to be looking at all of the peeling on the side of your house.
Repair the trim. If the trim around your home is warped, broken, or even just old, repairing and replacing it could be the best thing that you do. Not only does it make your home look more aesthetically pleasing, it makes you feel good about the house you’re living in to know that it’s in one piece. All you need to do is ensure that it’s functioning properly, with a sanding down and a new paint job. Give your trim a pop of color that compliments the rest of the house.
Power wash the whole house. You may not have thought about it before, power washing is a fantastic way to get your home exterior ready for the summer. All of the gunk and extra debris that has stuck to the side of your house and patio throughout the winter months can be cleaned down with a good pressure washer. Power washing gives your whole house a brand-new color, without even having to get the paintbrush. You’ll be taking off a layer of grime and built-up dirt, which can make your house look fantastic.
